Based in the United Kingdom, ESACT-UK is a Society which promotes the communication of knowledge and experience between scientists and engineers whose work has a direct or indirect bearing on cell culture biotechnology and the products derived from it. A particular emphasis is to ensure both the inclusion, and the active participation, of less experienced scientists in industry or academic institutions.
The Society’s committee is made up of a group of volunteers from within the bioprocessing community. You can see who is currently part of the committee and their roles here. Every year we work together to deliver a scientific conference in early January and we are now looking for some additional support to help us do so. Specifically, we are looking to expand the committee to the following role:
Deputy Trade Coordinator
The focus of this role is to provide support for our Trade Co-ordinator. Examples tasks could include, but are not limited to, collating trade exhibitor information from online registrations, liaising with the conference venue prior to the conference, interacting with venue staff during the conference to ensure all of the trade exhibitors’ requirements are being met.
- Essential skills or experience: Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral). Ability to work on multiple tasks in parallel and be detail oriented.
- Desirable skills or experience: Good administrative and organisational skills, ability to interact with the server-side of websites (training with our particular system would be provided), familiarity with website set up, and use of Excel.
Additional Notes:
- This is a voluntary position and does not provide a salary, but all reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out your role would be reimbursed.
- Committee members are expected to attend the annual conference (2-day conference plus half day prior for set up), 4 half day meetings per year (mix of in person and online) and additional hour long telecoms as needed.
If you are interested, please complete the application form here:
Before doing so, if appropriate, please speak to your line manager or supervisor to ensure you have support to attend meetings and the conference as set out above.
The deadline for applying is 10th of March 2025.
